Excellent game to run in Wine, it was one of the first ones I tried way back when and it now runs nearly perfectly. The only issue it still has is multiplayer through GameSpy. The multiplayer lobby can be accessed and you can chat, but it crashes when you try to connect to a game, not that there are that many people still playing online... but I digress.

When you put the cd in the drive, what exactly happens? Do you get any mounting options, or is it immediately automatically detected as an audio CD?

ok have managed to get the game installed some how, after an update, ubuntu asked if i wanted to browse file so i did, then installed setup via wine.
but when trying to play, the game got to the first intro film and stutterd to a stop.
the way round this i found was to press space bar a lot and in the end we got to the game screen.
it does play quite slow though, any ideas chaps
