How to install from backports with synaptic? [Archive]

How can I install alsa 1.0.9b with synaptic?

I added backport URLs to the sources list but when but they do not show in Synaptic.

If you have not already updated the sources, use this line in the terminal:
sudo apt-get update
Everything will be current. :)

Have you added the backports? I thought they wherent online?
