Is this installable on firefox 2.0 on ubuntu 7.10? if so could be very useful as i could "interactively" learn the fundamentals of Ancient Greek off of

http://www.open.ac.uk/Arts/greek/interactive.htm

The flash plugin is installable in Ubuntu but sadly the web site http://www.open.ac.uk/Arts/greek/interactive.htm is using a x-director file (Macromedia shockwave), and as far as I can tell there is no support for x-director on Linux.

You probably already have a flash plugin installed, if videos on you tube work then you do. You can also check in firefox by looking at about:plugins (type this in the address bar) and look for Shockwave Flash or flash or something like that.

See what i recently posted elsewhere (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=5186972&postcount=2) here for more info. I'm not sure but maybe one can install IE4Linux in Wine and access sites like that, not sure there and I don't have it installed.

Yeah youtube and all that kind of stuff is fine, as for IE related questions, i have IE installed but when i open up my veohtv wine installation it wont finish the installation unless i use wine, aergo it doesnt recognise it so i think IE is B.S.

I have encountered these problems before and it really sucks but still...

Write them a e-mail and let them know, this is especially hypocritical for a site calling themselves The Open University when they have slammed the doors on you and me. It is an example of poor web site design too not surprising since the below is found in the code. :lolflag:

Btw I sent them a letter explaining that linux users are cut off from there site.

Great idea, i sent them two emails, I can imagine this is the kind of thing that works only if they recieve a barrage of angry letters/emails from numerous people though. kind of gives me an idea...
A new linux website with a collaboration of the top linux users specifically targeting those sites that do not allow linux users access and unleashing the repressed anger of the almighty 'buntu on them until they change thier mode of practice.:KS
