[SOLVED] hd space management

recently i keep getting low space msg when download stuff over the internet... the strange thing is i save most of my stuff on a external hard drvies... i would like anyones opinion on this matter or if anyone knows a way to manage my space... this is my df
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 44G 36G 5.9G 86% /

Do you have Disk Usage Analyzer? It's very good for seeing where all the space went. If you're like me you probably have a few huge backup files which you don't need. You canget it with synaptic or whatever.

its exactly what i was looking for... but some reason i was thinking that the updates that i was doing from time to time were taking up all the space... but it turned out that i was miss manging my disk space...
