Are we likely to be charged a fee for LINUX Distros in the future,or will they remain FREE.
Can we see LINUX becoming Strong enough to overtake Windows, or will it still be label as something geeky?

It'll stay free, read the info on http://www.ubuntu.com

And Linux is free, and always will be, you may find some distro's will charge you, but they may have proprietary code in, or include the cost of the media and include DVD codec's etc.

The core of linux will always be free (as in freedom), Its up to the different distros how they use it and whether they charge for it. It is unlikely you will ever have to pay for Ubuntu!

As a response to if Linux will ever be strong enough, that depends on what you mean by strong enough. Many many people could probably install linux on their home computers today, much easier than installing windows, and not notice a difference in productivity or functionality... However for the hardcore gamers or those that are tied to a certain app that is Windows only - we will have to wait for companies to become more aware of Linux as a growing desktop and for them to open up their applications to different operating systems... It might only be then that people see the benefits of an OS other than windows!

It will always be geeky - but what's wrong with that?

I bang on about this down the pub. Windows is in decline,I've been around a long time. I have seen them come and seen them go. I remember when there was nobody but IBM....Where are they now? MS has the feel of a company that has run out of steam where do they go next? digressing I see some distros remaining geeky but others are becoming much more "ordinary" user friendly, Witness these ultra cheap laptops pre-loaded with linux......The linux foot is well and truly in the door.
I can bore for England on this subject!
