Sound Cards

Could someone please let me know of a sound card that thay are currently using that works in Ubuntu 8.04 using Ekiga or Skype. Both my onboard and Soundblaster Audigy SE don't cut it. I would like to purchase a new card but I want to make sure that it is currently in use for the above applications.

I've got the same question but need optical output with the correct status channel content so my AV receiver can cope with all the modes.
