I hate it when people make themes that look like Vista. It's preposterous. Everyone should make their own unique themes, not copy someone. There are so many vista themes on Gnome-Look.

I personally don't like them, but they do show how ridiculous Vista actually is if it can be duplicated in less than 7 years.

Personally I don't care what themes people run on their own computers.

Same goes for all the Mac OS themes that people make. It's understandable that if you like the look of it then go ahead and emulate it, but it's no subtistute for originality.

I don't mind windows themes. I just don't like them or use them. Who would copy vista?

i think it's kind of funny in a 'cougar pines' kind of way.

Well doing so is good for transition though, that way vista users can be more comfy.

I like Vista icons a lot. Vista as an OS feel like pulling out your own teeth, but the UI is nice.

The only thing I like about Vista is the mouse cursor. I use the Xcursor aero theme every time I install a new distro.

I don't care what other people use myself, but for my own computer I don't like to use either Vista or MAC themes. I just like my Linux to look unique in it's own way, rather than simply ape an established look from another OS. There's way prettier themes out there for Linux than are available on Vista and MAC anyway.

I agree with that; from my point of view, if I want the Vista look, I use Vista

I also agree, use what theme you want to use, that's the nature of Linux, have it your way. Personally i prefer not to have anything related to Windows on my computer.

Yeah it makes me sick

But whats even worse is the second most downloaded file on kde-look:

This is one thing I hate.

The look of the OS is not the OS.

People pick operating systems for much more than just the look. Other factors include, price, interface behavior, application availability, licensing restrictions, hardware compatibility, etc.

A Ubuntu with a Vista theme is not Vista at all. It won't behave like Vista. It doesn't have Vista's proprietary licenses. It doesn't install or maintain applications the same way Vista does. It doesn't cost the same as Vista or have the same hardware requirements as Vista.

All people are doing is changing the look of the OS.

Personally I prefer Sun's Nimbus theme, not overglossy (like quite a few Gtk themes) and very unique. It also looks like it's being used by people with sausage fingers like someone said in another thread (like almost all of the other Gnome themes) :D Why can't we have compact menus in Gnome? Why are there humongous icons next to each menu item? KDE and Xfce have been a lot more compact than Gnome...there must be something I can change to get a compact menu and buttons...

Spot the difference...which one is more compact?

 I think I'm aware of the difference between a theme/look of an OS and the actual OS. thanks for the info
people are free to do whatever they want. I didn't say anything about someone else but me and my personal tastes. maybe it's a misunderstanding

Not to belittle the topic, but this has been discussed quite a bit in the past.

Moved to Recurring Discussions. :)
