I've googled all over the place and haven't been able to find any information on whether 8.04 server installs easily onto a Dell Poweredge R200?

Apparently the DVD drive isn't recognized when installing Debian Etch. Something to do with the ICH9 chipset...

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I am yet to receive a R200 on which I am planning to install Hardy 64 bit Server. So far I have not had any problems in my Dell SC1435, 1950, 2950 and 2970. Hopefully there shouldn't be any problems with R200/R300 models.

Please do post back with your Ubuntu Hardy experience on the R200. You have a R200 on order? Apparently Ubuntu Lenny slides right on, but it sounds like Etch is a hassle.

Hi,

Ubuntu Hardy runs well on my R200 boxes.
Currently I'm just fighting with IPMI to monitor temperature

We have 4 R200's running Ubuntu 8.04 Server with no problems.

1. Boot from installer CD/DVD.
2. Follow on screen instructions
3. ???
4. Profit!

With SAS or SATA disks?
Could you post your controller/disk configuration?
Thank you in advance.
