Hi all, in Windows it is pretty easy to use a laptop as a WiFi spot. You just need to create new wireless connection (computer to computer) and allow to share your main internet connection.

How to do the same thing in Ubuntu? Thanks in advance.

It is a little trickier - but only slightly.

I have done it before with Firestarter: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=5000529&postcount=17

Internet connection sharing is possible, however I believe he wants to internet connection share wirelessly. Is this the case? Meaning you want Computer A to connect wirelessly to Router, and Computer B to connect wirelessly to Computer A? This is a much harder scenario. If Computer B were connected through a wire to ComputerB, then it would greatly simplify the process.

I've done it as you described, but my local wifi net still cannot be discovered =(

P.S. In your guide you wrote:

...
Select your wifi device (e.g. eth1, wlan0, ath0 for wifi) as Local area network device
Select "Enable area network device"
...
But when I start Firestarter wizard, there is no such option as "Enable area network device"

Can you explain what part of the tutorial you are stuck on?

Do you have two network cards (a wired and wireless, or two wireless in place?)
