Hello~
I am new to linux and currently running on gnome, and I have to ask this, whats that great about KDE anyway? I kind of prefer GNOME. What is the diffrence? Between those two.
And second, is it possible to change colors in GNOME on the task bars etc?

I'd use the desktop that you have most apps for, most of my apps are gnome some kde, so i use gnome.
kde = configurability, lots of options
gnome = simple, ease of use, more apps

GNOME using GTK while KDE use QT as its base.
KDE apps is more configurable, just take a look on Konsole which is very customizable but actually you also can install it on GNOME.

Here are some differences:

If that doesn't help you, I'm afraid you'll just have to install KDE (http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/kde) to find out for yourself.
As for changing the Gnome panel colors, try this (http://linuxfud.wordpress.com/2007/02/16/how-to-change-the-color-of-gnome-panel-text-handles-buttons-and-more/).

aysiu,
you write in your kdegnome webpage:
In Gnome's file manager called Nautilus, you can also rename files by doing two spaced-out single-clicks on the name.
I have never seen this happen. Am I missing something?

I think that means clicking twice on the word in the rename bit highlights the whole name, not just the non-extension bit.

I like KDE because Gnome is too simple to the point where you can't always get it to do what you want it to, but KDE has a lot more configuration options but it's still easy to use. Either way you're better off than Windows or OS X though :)

Ahh, aysiu means double-clicking after F2. Now i see.
If you have a file
hello world.ext
and you are renaming it then double-clicking any word highlights that word, double clicking the dot highlights "world.ext" but not "hello".
So if you have a filename without spaces double-clicking the dot highlights the whole filename including the extension.
Maybe this is another reason why not to have spaces in filenames.
