the only thing that will make Microsoft listen is money. Petitions get you nowhere with corps unless you back them up with a real financial threat.

true, at least I know that my one signing won't have a big effect, if any. But I don't keep from voicing my opinion or supporting my belief just because it will be squashed.

Sadly even in the remote case that they supported it, they would only support opening and would save a perverted non compliant version of opendocument that worked best in Word.
I signed it anywho~

Petitions to Microsoft are useless. They aren't accountable to you, unless you're a shareholder.
In a democratic society, theoretically, your GOVERNMENT may be accountable to you; why don't you spend your time petitioning elected officials to pass and enforce rules mandating OpenDocument? A million names on an online petition means nothing to Microsoft, but a thousand voters will strike terror into the heart of a mayor or city councilman.
