How to post a new thread

I apologies for jumping in to this thread, but I just cannot discover the hidden secret of how to post a new thread. Could anyone help me figure out how its done because it does not appear to be obvious. I am registered and the page informs me I can post a new thread.

Don't feel bad. Every several months I come back to Ubuntu forums, and by then I have forgotten the mystic secret to posting a thread and thus must make a major research project on how to simply post a thread before I can even ask my question, which usually people fail to answer, (which is all a kind of ironic parody of Linux, if you think about it). It's the kind of thing a bad comedian would write, and no one would believe it, because the joke would seem too exaggerated, the truth being more absurd than bad fiction.
