How can I disable the irritating bouncing icon that appears next to the cursor when I launch an app in Kubuntu 8.04. ??

Previously when I've used kde there was a setting in 'Control Centre' called Launch Feedback that had a checkbox to disable the animated cursor.

However, having just installed Kubuntu 8.04 I can't even find the Control Centre in the menu and the System Settings has no facility for this.

I've checked the Kubuntu forums and can't find any reference to it.Maybe they need a higher level of stimulus from their desktop or don't suffer motion-sickness over there?

What is it I am overlooking?

Yeah, this bugs me a lot too. Every time I install KDE/Kubuntu, turning the damned bouncing cursor off is the first thing I do. Wonder why System Settings is making it so hard, though...

Anyway, press alt-f2, enter kcontrol then poke around the tree pane to find the launch feedback dialog. Sorry I can't remember exactly what it's in, should be in the appearance category though.

Once you're in kcontrol, it's Appearance & Themes -> Launch Feedback -> No Busy Cursor.

yes that worked perfectly.Many thanks.
Strange that the fix is hidden away given that it so easily solves such a petty nuisance.
So all is fine and I will away to explore kde some more.

That's generally how KDE is. Highly configurable, but it takes some searching through layers of menus. Or, of course, the proper search terms in Google.

How do you do it with 11.04?
