There should be none. And logging in should be automatic.
Wait 10 seconds...

Did you check the CD for errors after you burned it? If the CD is correct then it won't ask you for a pass.
Also don't forget to burn at a very slow speed like 4x or better 2x.

Regarding install errors, I can only advice you to try it on some other hardware...
Regarding password, I am guessing "ubuntu" and blank password. As...
Ubuntu 7.10
Username: ubuntu
Password:
Ubuntu 7.04
Username: ubuntu
Password:
Ubuntu 6.06
Username: ubuntu
Password:
Kubuntu 6.06
Username: ubuntu
Password:
Xubuntu 7.04
Username: ubuntu
Password:
Let me remind you, for each one of those entries, there IS NO PASSWORD. So if you are prompted for a username and password while on the livecd, simply input the username and press enter. Do not enter a password. This should log you in. If it does not, it possibly means that your disc was corrupted or the download was.

No.
There is no username or password.
If your CD is asking for one, then there is an error on the CD.
read the Start Here sticky for advice on how to check md5 etc.
You can use torrent to correct errors, or re-download. And burn at slow speed.
