internet not workinG......

Guyz plz help me...... does ubuntu 8.04 lts ver. support 945 intel motherboard ?????? i mean my internet is not working..... actually i'm using vista ultimate edition on the same mb.... does it make an effect on it......????:confused:

Are you using wireless or wired? Also, post the outputs of:-
ifconfig
and
lshw -C network

i'm using wired n/w.... actually i removed ubuntu due to some reasons....so no outputs buddy......bt whn i'll install ubuntu i'll write that.....

The c in lshw -C is supposed to be capitalised. But the ifconfig output shows that the eth interface is working properly except that all the packets are being dropped. Could you please elaborate on "my internet is not working"?

well i'm using vista ultimate edition as well as ubuntu.... internet is working means i can access sites, downloading files n everything in vista.... but whn i logged in ubuntu then i can't access the sites, the router doesn't show any status, it shows idle.... thats my problem......

Does the two computers icon show up in the tray? Do you use a proxy on Vista or are you connecting to a school network (might have a proxy).

ya it shows bt only a single n/w computer icon up in d taskbar, and i'm not using any kind of proxies n dats my home n/w.....
