Hello all, I'm a long time Ubuntu user, but this is the first time that I'm stumped, and have no clue as to how to fix it?

My video card is an old Nvidia Gefore 2 MX/200, and it's capable of 1280x1024 display, however since using Ubuntu 8.04, it's stuck on 800x600. Even if I enabled the restricted drivers from Nvidia, it's still stuck at the 800x600 resolution! ](*,)

So how do I fix this, since this has never happened to me before?

p.s mods if this is in the wrong forum, move it to desired location thanks!

you should try going to /usr/share/applications
and opening Screens and Graphics.
select the right type of monitor and correct resolution.
also if you dont use a widescreen monitor uncheck the "widescreen Monitor" box

Hope this helps. :)

tried that, and now i got this error

Nautilus can't be used now, due to an unexpected error.

Nautilus can't be used now, due to an unexpected error from Bonobo when attempting to locate the factory. Killing bonobo-activation-server and restarting Nautilus may help fix the problem.

Looks like I have to re-install Ubuntu all over again! GRRRRRR!!!!

do what it says.. kill the process and see if that helps.
also... try restarting.. maybe after a restart everything works.. sometimes its like that.
let us know if you get it working.

Thanks a lot for the help, I got it up and running again! Thank goodness, I didn't feel like reformatting and re-installing the whole thing! What a life saver man! :guitar:

oh.. great to hear you got it working.. :D

Edit:
wait.. does that mean you have full resolution now? or you simply went back to 800X600??
