Messa Glx? with Nvidia

This morning I noticed the update manager wants to update messa drivers and mesa dri. I remember reading on a game site Bioware Forum that this may cause framrate issues with certain games and shows how to disable it. That brings me to wonder why it is being upgraded and dri upgraded when nvidia excludes dri and will this cause issues with a nvidia set up pertaining to gaming.

I'm no expert, but when I downloaded the new MESA GLX update it halved my frame rate and caused massive graphical distortions, so rather than spend time troubleshooting I reinstalled the Nvidia drivers and everything went back to normal. I'd give the Mesa GLX update a miss, although i'm sure it's easily fixed, perphaps there is a resident expert that can give the details on what symlinks need to be changed or files removed?

It stuffed my system too. Since I was using the nVidia factory drivers, I just re-installed them and everything is fine again :)
