I'm troubleshooting an XP system that is suspected of harboring a virus somewhere in its crooked little brains. Unfortunately I can't install anything on the machine -- I only have access to a guest account. (Yes, I know, it's frustrating.)
What would be useful for me is a Linux live CD that can do a virus scan of a connected hard drive with an NTFS file system. Even better would be one that boots from USB (useful, but not necessary).
Ever hear of anything like this? I have considered the Ubuntu Rescue Remix (http://ubuntu-rescue-remix.org) disc, and then installing a text-mode virus scanner, and hopefully getting the job done that way. Seems like someone would have prebuilt something like this though.
Any suggestions?
