View Full Version : [ubuntu] Latest update broke, well, almost everything.

Well then. Ran "sudo update-manager -c -d" and saw an upgrade to the 2.6.24-18 kernel image dealie. Ran all updates. Rebooted. System a splode.

I'm on epiphany with nothing else running because Swiftfox freezes and causes the system to freeze. Wine makes the system freeze. AWN makes the system freeze. I can't really run anything except epiphany. The hell do I do?

I would do a clean install of your system. Back up your files first.

I'm currently using the psychocats tutorial to put everything in /home on its own partition. Even if that goes ***-up, fortunately, I've got it all on external HD. Then I'll either reinstall or take this as an opportunity to try something else out.

Have you tried selecting the previous kernel version from your Grub menu to see if your system will work OK?

Well, too late now. Back to square one and going along just fine. The /home partition thing muffed up, but no data lost.
