View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can video be played fullscreen on secondary display while minimized on primary?

I used to do this in Windows with some success. Basicly, any time I played a video, whether it be in Winamp or Windows Media Player, the video would be fed to the TV at full screen, but it didn't matter where the video window was on the primary screen. You could have it behind another window or minimized for example, but it would remain full screen on the TV.

The reason I'm asking about this (and explaining this point for perhaps an alternate solution) is because I just got a new monitor that has a native resolution of 1680x1050, but the highest I can get it via S-Video to my TV is 1024x768. So the resolutions don't match and if I want something to be full screen it explodes the size out to the width of my monitor, and stuff is hanging off the edges of the TV.

What can I do?
