I know that there are literally 10000s of threads on here about reinstallation of grub. But i really want a version that is relevant to my situation because i dont want to mess my laptop up.

I had ubuntu 7.10 gutsy gibbon on my laptop on one partition so i installed windows xp on another partition. Only to find that although i still had ubuntu i couldnt access it because windows xp jumped in and IMHO it had deleted GRUB although i cant be 100% certain.

Can someone please tell me in really simple language (im quite new to linux) how i go about re-installing grub.

Thanks for any help given.
