Hello all-
Let me start off by saying that I've had to nuke my WINXP computer 5 times this week alone. That's just my laptop the desktop is another story.....this makes finals in college extremely difficult. So I'm attempting to quit windows cold turkey. I know absolutely nothing about linux. I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 LTS for testing to get off windows. With college, work and family I DO NOT have hours to spend learning it either. If I can get my hardware to work I will put all windows disks in my shredder.
Laptop issues:
I have a compaq presario v2000 AMD Turion64 with Broadcom Wireless. Sound video and wired NIC work fine. the wireless card however does not work. There is a button on the laptop that must be pressed to turn on the wireless NIC. When I press this button nothing happens. If need be (to fix this) I can get on the net with the wired card. I have seen forum discussions about checking stuff in the terminal with various syntax. I have spent all of 10 minutes running linux so I need someone to direct me how to do these commands.
Printer issues: I have a HP Color LaserJet 2840 All-in-One
Is Ubuntu supporting HPLIP 2.8.5?
If so my only problem is how do I open a terminal to run the code?
