Hi,
I'm using HP DV2500 Laptop.
Y'day I installed realplayer for ubuntu...
after that I opened a movie file in ubuntu movie player. I found the colors were distorted.. I tried opening lot of other files.. for all of them video was distorted. video became blueish...

This color problem is only with videos.. rest of the system colors are fine.. wallpaper, icons etc. have no problem.

I opened a video file in real player, even then problem persisted. Is this a problem of real player installation.. ??

Please help me, restoring my video playback colors. Is it a hardware issue...
what cud be the reason for getting this problem, in a OS running fine from 1.5 months.

It sounds like codec issues. I had tones of them on windows. Big hell to fix on windows too. Every time too. Main lesson is don't use codec packs on windows. Ever. Ubuntu is where easy live starts with codecs. Get rid off with real player and its codecs asap. Get rid off with totem movie player and everything installed on your computer with "totem" in name. Download w32codecs package from medibuntu repository and install movie player (mplayer) and watch rm movies on mplayer or even on gxine player.

Good luck!

Hi everyone. I have an HP 14 inch display laptop, model DV2510, general model DV2500. I would like to know if you are running Ubuntu Hardy Heron v8.1 on your laptop.

I bought this laptop last December when v7.1 was out, and the Forums said it wouldn't run. Dang!!!!!!!!

Is v8.1 running ok for you on an HP dv2500 series laptop????

ALSO, if running 8.1, did you dual boot so Windows Vista is still accessible, or did you strip the system and just load Ubuntu?

Thankyou,
Ron
