Hi everybody,
until this morning my Ubuntu was working perfect.
I had selected the nvidia-glx-new driver from the Restricted Driver manager and everything was working fine, comprising desktop effetcs.
Today I got some upgrades on nvidia-glx-new and restricted drivers packages and after that my problems came:
The driver seems to work fine (I still have desktop effects like before etc) however, when I do shut down (or even reboot), the unplash window appears, the bar goes fro orange to black and at about 80% it stops for few seconds, then the screen goes back and colored vertical stripes appear and the screen get more and more white and everything freezes.
All I can do is to manually switch my laptop off by pressing the power-off button for few seconds.
My graphic card is a nVidia GeForce 8400 and my laptop is a Dell XPS M1330.

Help please! :)
