Toshiba Tecra A9 keyboard problem

Hello,

I am running Ubuntu 8.04 lts on a Toshiba Tecra A9 (laptop)

I seem to be loosing the " character (on my keyboard) from time to time.

I can then only type this character -> ¨

I usually can get it (") back by re-choosing the keyboard-model VS (standard) but right now even that doesn´t work anymore. Incideltally (or not incidentally at all?) My keyboard input sometimes gets stuck for a couple of seconds.

Any suggestions?

SOLVED with the help off "kcmshell keyboard_layout" (KDE keyboard layout tool)

I choose for us (with euro sign, because i live in Europe)

NOT SOLVED: keyboard input is sometimes still slow.
