Hello,

My target hardware is a HP DL580 G5 (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/sm/WF06b/521-525-358263-358263-12083473-80744316-80745226.html) with two quad-core E7330 Intel Xeon processors.

Have noticed the HP DL580 does not appear on the validated hardware list (http://www.ubuntu.com/products/whatisubuntu/serveredition/validatedhardware).

Is this hardware capable of running Ubuntu server edition?

Thanks,
Chris

Dual core and quad core, no problems, I have eight cores running right now.

Will the DL580 work? I'm not sure but I would say you have at least an 80% chance.

normally you have problems with stuff like bluetooth devices, video card, sound card, wifi adapter...

That server has none of this so I think it will work.

You shouldn't have any trouble, at the worst maybe a harddrive controller issue. Like winindependence said, I am sure you won't have any trouble with 8 cores. We have boxes with 64 processors running just fine.
