Okay, I have this idea....and before I post it here...I need to know if anyone here would even have the ability to write the program. I am in the process of making a mock up for it. Part of it is really just a souped-up sidebar for which I want to design matching gadgets. The sidebar would have to be able to reserve the edge of the screen so no windows would cover it. I know it doesn't sound original yet, but the main idea involves one particular widget/gadget. The whole idea is to save space. So for now, I just need to know if someone could and would make this for ubuntu if they would get full credit for it. I would just give the idea and design what it looks like. I don't have the skill to write the program. What about you?

And btw, I already know that there is a sidebar for screenlets that can go on top, but again, my idea is different.

It sounds cool..although it would be better to me if windows could cover it..

Well I think it goes without saying that windows could cover it. It would depend on the user. There would be an option to make it reserve the edge or not.
And the appearance could always be changed. Thre are diffrent skins for most things in ubuntu, and this would be no exception. The ones I'd be designing probably would not look dull. Even the mockup I am making doesn't look dull. It has that glossy, transparent look that seems seems to be in style now (it was used in vista aero). Again, if anyone didn't like the skin, there could always be more.
