Odd Wine issue in games

I recently put Ubuntu (most recent build) back on my laptop and have wanted to play some of my favorite windows games. I used synaptic to install wine and xwine and installed Soldat. Upon running the game, I find that it can't seem to locate any of the files in the bots or maps folders. I'm also having this issue with other games, where it seems like they can't read the contents of their folders. Any idea what could be causing this?

Oh, and try soldat if you can get it to run. It's probably my favorite game.
