Rtorrent and SSL certificates

new to Ubuntu and loving it!
Just installed Rtorrent and am having trouble connecting to private bit torrent site which uses https- keep getting this error Tracker: [Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates]

now ive tried adding the sites certificate to /etc/ssl/certs/ but that hasnt worked
do i have to add to a rtorrent directory ????

anyhelp appreciated
i really like rtorrent and would like to keep using it if i can find an answer to this

I have the same problem and still can't find solution - maybe because it's SELF-SIGNED certificate... :( I wonder if sb can help with that :)
