Hi,
from the forum help (http://ubuntuforums.org/misc.php?do=showsmilies): "If you want to disable smilies in a post that you make, you can select the 'Disable Smilies' option when posting."

Just where is this option? I can't find it.

Click New Reply (Not the quick reply icon). The tickbox is under "Miscellaneous Options"

The only option I see there is "Automatically parse links in text". Am I blind?

Ok I'm still blind. Could someone please show me where that "Disable smilies" option is? Making smilies with spaces in between gets a bit annoying over time.

Go to your user Control Panel and check your editor options - the checkbox doesn't appear if you have the "basic" editor selected.

For reference, the argument is called "disablesmilies=1".
