i prefer to do a debian base and build up from there, i much prefer to do it myself so i get it like i want it.
using a vaio with 450mhz 256mb ram.

No, but I enyoy trying them out. Testing TinyMe 2008 right now. Might be even better than Puppy, which was my favorite until now.

Arch is fairly lightweight, and I use that exclusively.

we should have a seperate forum for "what do you recommend?" or "what's a good lightweight distro?". oh wait, there is one, but nobody uses it. i guess it's better to start a new thread every other day covering the same old thing.

kerry_s I admire how you think, that's how I like to do it but with a ubuntu base instead of debian, trying debian as a base though is up there with my things to do 8-)

Debian is quite nice but I like arch more since it installs faster and is easier to set up usually(for me at least). I use it exclusively but I do have a seperate partition for testing out new distros.

SLAX is perfect for almost anything. Puppy is good too.
