I'm thinking of downloading Vega Strike (http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/gallery2/main.php) but it's a big download on my dial-up modem.

I'd like a 3-d space fighter game and also a kind of medieval empire building game like The Settlers.

Anyone found some really must-have games?

on a 56k your **** up creek.

My favorite game I downloaded on a 56k was Betrayal at Krondor but you'll need dosbox for that. It's a medieval/fantasy RPG.

Oh, I don't mean mmorg gaming. Just playing on my own is fine.

It's a stand alone RPG, I hate MMORPG's

It's from the 90's only 10 megs but 100's of hours of gameplay

I use downloader4linux and while I'm sleeping I've downloaded Nexuiz, Open Arena, Cube, Saurbraten. Having a download manager really helps. Sure, It takes a couple days, but I eventually get what I'm after.

I really like Neverball. It may not be as enthralling and action packed as Alien Arena or whatnot but it's a good, quick, game to play with nice 3D graphics.

Hey, I downloaded Vega Strike using the Synaptic Package Manager and it didn't really take long at all. It works fine and I really like the look of the game. The music is groovy too.

Thanks for all your help.
