I once saw a sig in a blog that was a 88x31 button that said written on a Mac.

I thought this was a kool touch and think it would be great if Ubuntu users could have a similar one.

Anyone this this is a great idea, anyone wanna make one?

Neat idea. Wanna upload the mac button as a template, or at least a place to start thinking about it from for ppl interested in making an ubuntu button?

Like the one here (http://www.apple.com/about/webbadges/badges2.html)? I think it would be cool to have an Ubuntu one, but maybe not too much of a clone of the Mac one (I attached an Ubuntu clone/ripoff, it's kinda funny).

:lolflag: that page gives intructions for PC users to save the "Made on a MAC" image - If you are a PC user, right click on the image and select “Save image as...”

Yup, I thought that was funny too, considering point 2 in their terms:

2. Use the Made on a Mac Badge only if your Website actually uses, or was created using Apple Mac OS software or Apple Macintosh hardware; and is under a valid license agreement, if required.

Maybe they said that because they endorse the fact their machines can now run Windows too? Still funny though.

"Made on Ubuntu" would be for website, video, graphics created on an Ubuntu machine.

The one I saw "written on a Mac" was for blogs and forum signatures, so how bout one for those type of use?

Hmm, I've never seen a "written on a Mac" badge before, most people I know use the official "Made on a Mac" badges provided by Apple (http://www.apple.com/about/webbadges/) - including on their blogs etc. (it's a branding thing, many Mac owners love to display their "superiority" - I know I did). Apple says you can display it if your site uses or was made with Apple software or hardware (including text editors in my opinion).

That person probably made it himself (which may be against their branding guidelines). Anyway, here is a version with Made changed for Written (although I would prefer to use a "Made on Ubuntu" version rather than "Written on Ubuntu").

Thanks, maybe we should have an official one. You guys think we should create a wiki page for this and encouraging Ubuntu users to use it?

The "Made on a Mac" text with the Apple logo is put on web pages by the iWeb program, which is an something like a website creator wizard for OS X - select theme, choose colors, put some pictures and text, upload.

Some time ago I was looking to put something similar on my website, but saying "Made on GNU/Linux" and the Debian logo (i was using it at that time). Debian had a special page with logos and rules how and where you can use the logos. I guess Ubuntu/Canonical has a similar page, if not, it would be helpful.

Good stuff. Now, of course, we need kubuntu, edubuntu, etc etc...

Maybe it would be better to unite under *buntu rather than trying to split it up into different distros?

Reason being that I think that there are so few linux users/linux aware people relative to the rest of the world that it's going to be more meaningful if we have a more universal, recognizable image than just having a free-for-all with everyone using their own. (Although I do think it's ironic that I'm objecting to "free for all" in any sense regarding Linux)
