I have a radeon 9000 in a digital audio with a 933 quicksilver cpu; also a radeon 9000 in a dual 1ghz MDD. dual boot of both dapper and fiesty with tiger and leopard respectively has been a success.

Hi,
I would go with some nvidia card as the linux drivers for ATI usually suck. They may get better in the future when/if AMD/ATI make them open-source (which they promised sometime around in 2007 AFAIK), but I wouldn't rely on that...

At present, that may be good advice for an Intel processor box, but the Quicksilver Mac is PPC.
AFAIK, Nvidia does NOT provide binary drivers for Linux PPC.
For the moment, I would think you will be much better off using ATI graphics with PPC and the available (mostly) reverse engineered open source drivers.
