I am running Ubuntu 8.04 desktop edition. I have 1TB of encrypted storage. I have searched all over for command line encryption utilities, because i would much rather be using Ubuntu Server. The only reason I need a GUI is for Trucrypt. Does anyone know of any, strictly command line, disk encryption utilities? Thanks.

truecrypt also has a command line interface.
truecrypt -h
Or were you wanting something other than that?

I have tried using that, it seems to still attempt to launch a GUI. Maybe I am doing something wrong? I have the disk encrypted, the problem is mounting the volume via command line. Will truecrypt -h bypass the GUI?

Hrmm. I'll have to rummage through the docs again. I know there is a cli version, but I think I gave you the wrong command.

Still no word on this one. Anyone have any ideas? Even a simple "You're SOL buddy" would suffice.
Thanks.

I think I read somewhere that the lates Truecrypt (5.0 I think) lost it's cli function? I unfortunately don't have a reference for that information.
there was a thread about that I think in the Cafe when it came out.
I hopes it helps a bit
