ok, so in 7.10 i had compiz working fine. i upgraded to 8.04 and the only problems i have now are getting compiz to work correctly and removing kernal 386 so i can have sound. but thats besides the point.

i cant get compiz to work now. when i open up ccsm all of the options and plugins are faded (not selectable). so i installed fusion-icon and tried to use that. but still it doesnt work.

i have a intel media accelorator 3100x. this card was blacklisted in 7.10 but according to 8.04 its not anymore. i have no idea if this information is correct or not. i tried using skip_check through terminal and it hasnt changed anything.

when i go to system > preferences > apperance > visual effects and try to turn it on (its currently turned off), it says its unable to do so.

ive also tried uninstalling and reinstalling compiz. still no luck. so i have no idea what to do now. any help?

Please use compiz-check. You can find it here: http://forlong.blogage.de/article/pages/Compiz-Check
