Let me start off by saying I'm a newbie, and know very little about Linux-based systems. I can use them, just don't know much about them.
I'm buying a HP dv9700z laptop for college, and would like to switch it to run fully on Ubuntu. My problem is that I want to make sure I have drivers for everything, including the webcam and microphone that comes built in. I haven't been able to find them, nor much else for drivers, anywhere. Can anyone help? Where is a good place to look? Is there any way to download or buy a driver package? I want to make sure I have full functionality in my laptop.

Most everything should work out the box. The only thing you're likely to have problems with are the webcam and internal modem (if it has one). Other
than that it should be well supported.

I believe there is a laptop info page on the Ubuntu Wiki which may help. Perhaps check there (sorry I don't have the link)..

The laptop (hardware database) page is here (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam).
For specific issues with getting everything working you probably want to search or post to the hardware & laptop forum (http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=332). Hope that helps.
