This discussion has been beaten to death hundreds of times, there are a few threads about this very thing right now in the Recurring Discussions forum.

Why do you say that, is opera a google project?

No opera isn't a google project... Thinking two different things at once, foot in mouth :P!

Opera for me! But I am a Norwegian share holder...

No, seriously, I find Opera has got everything FF can get with add-ons. And it is still faster and lighter.

Firefox is more customizable, and Opera is for people that don't want to play around with the look and feel of their software, they just want something that works 'as is'.

I tried Opera devel statically linked qt4 on arch, and for some reason it doesn't work with QGtkStyle. :(

Opera is faster and cleaner. And it has more features built in (but fewer extensions). I love it.

Exactly.

(I like the theme I use better than any for Firefox)

firefox if you want flash and media.
opera if you don't, plugins suck in opera.

Flash works fine (better than Firefox, if I am to believe all the problems on the forum)

Firefox because even if I wanted to use Opera, I would only be able to use it on a portion of my computers.

Because their software is closed-source and they only offer their binaries for a small portion of operating systems and platforms. I run a few operating systems not mentioned on that page, as well as an amd64 (I'm not enabling x86 emulation and grabbing the x86 libraries just for a web browser!) and a *BSD sparc.

OK, you can find 64bit here (http://snapshot.opera.com/unix/snapshot-1992/x86_64-linux/) at least...

I prefer Opera. It is lighter than FF, and does what I need without the need to search for plugins. Plus the themes are just great :)

Thanks for the link, I was unaware of that!

To be truthful, to me, any web-browser that supports Javascript, CSS, and other standards well is fine.. I have no large investment in any browser. Things like a plugin system or mouse gestures I don't use much. Although I love Adblock Plus and Firebug I could easily live without them.

I'm contemplating using Opera on a sluggish x86 computer I built out of spare parts for my parents. We'll see how it rolls :)

By the way, I did some tests last night with opera versus firefox, and found while it does take up less of my ram, it takes more of my CPU. Also, I don't think I will use it until the Qt 4 version works with QGtkStyle (I like everything to blend in :p).
