I'm having a few issues with the nonstandard hardware in a friend's Fujitsu Lifebook P Series (1000 or 2000 I think) subnotebook. I've installed the Hardy version of Ubuntu, which ran a little too slow on the 800 MHz Crusoe Transmeta CPU, so now I'm currently in the process of installing Xubuntu (also Hardy). These are the problems I'm having, though:

1. The keyboard is (obviously) compacted, with the F* keys controlling things like brightness and volume, but *buntu doesn't seem to recognize the special layout (for example, I can't take screenshots because it doesn't know which key is the Print Screen one)
2. There is no sound
3. Although it got the screen resolution right, the refresh rate seems to be a little off (things aren't as responsive/snappy as they should be)

Any suggestions?
