So, I am looking for a good KDE distro. I really like gnome, but I find KDE better caters to my needs. Its a lot easier to use than gnome for me, but I have a few conflicts. DigiKam. I hate it. I HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT!! I never can upload the video's off my camera, and I through so much bull trying to even get pictures on there! I like the way gnome does cameras better because I can upload my videos. Is there any better way to do this on KDE other than using digikam, or is there a different open source program to allow me to do this much easier? With that being said. Recommend any KDE distro that is fast, and something other than kubuntu. I've tried PCLOS and my mouse is buggy on there. Opensuse looks promising.

It's importing videos is where I have problems. Will gthumb allow me to import videos a lot easier?

Mepis 6 is VERY fast and similar to Ubuntu in the level of easiness. I think it is based on Ubuntu Dapper Drake but is very up-to-date. 7 will be based on Debian.
Mandriva is slow, but it has very good hardware detection.

Try Arch + KDEMod.
Well I'm not a KDE advocate and Arch is neither KDE centric distro. But Arch + KDEMod almost won me over GNOME. But I resisted. LOL!.
To get started, see:

Mepis would be the easiest transition, I think. It's really easy to set up and comes bundled with lots of software. It even picked up my wireless card out of the box. :-)
Other than that, I think Mandriva is by far the 'prettiest' KDE distro out there. It may be fat and heavy, but it has great software detection, and out-of-the-box functionality.
The only downside to Mandriva, in my opinion, is that it uses RPM. But then, some people actually like it. I guess it's just a matter of getting used to it. :-)

Here's two suggestions:
1) Linux Mint 4.0 KDE (very, very, very slick) My wife has this on her computer and loves it.
2) PClinuxOS Again, very slick.

I was getting bored with Gnome (truthfully, I was getting tired of how much time I was spending trying to make it look awesome, which it was, and which was a lot of time...and I don't have the fastest laptop in the world so I sacrificed a lot of performance for style) so I wanted to play around with KDE and hopefully a quicker experience. Kubuntu 8.04 kept locking up on me, however Mepis 7 has been a breeze and is very snappy on my laptop. I've done the distro hop thing countless times, however I am going to stick with Mepis 7 if for no other reason than my laptop runs very, very smoothly right now (that and wifi works, which I suspect was what was making Kubuntu lock up...whenever I would try to connect using knetwork manager everything went kaputz).

Why dont you use the GNOME tool that you talked about in your original post? You can run GTK apps under KDE no problem, and if you install GTK-QT Engine, it makes the software blend in with your KDE theme.

True. That never even crossed my mind. I will try that with the kubuntu desktop when I get home, and if all goes well I will install mepis.

When it comes to KDE, Pardus is one of the most brilliant distros. I suggest giving it a try:

You can take a look at some reviews first:

I used gwenview on the kubuntu desktop to upload my vids, but there was no picture so I had no idea what the heck I was uploading. I still haven't found the right tool yet.

PClinuxos was okay, but I think I got MEPIS last time and all drivers were there.
The best woudl be for you a serious distro that has drivers already in there. Mandriva has drivers but one have to pay the distro. The MEPIS could maybe work to have drivers maybe...cant recall. When I go on TRIP, I take a MEPIS cdrom with me, since I know that I can slot it anywhere and get all working fully (drivers) for all machines.
Concerning alternative to Digikam, it is normal it is crashing or not working. Ubuntu is the worst distro for stability, and this by far. I would recommand you to turn to better distro. Install a Debian Stable, put your drivers in the /lib and enjoy the Debian World ! It's stable, fast, and reliable. Why to make complicated when solution is there: Debian (or slack or fedora)

Why should he avoid it!? This is your personal opinion, and let me tell you that not everyone shares that view.
Furthermore, if he's told to avoid it he's never going to have a chance to make his own observations.
Come on people!

I used debian and didn't like it.
Ubuntu is always stable for me, never crashes but I need to be using KDE more. I like it a lot better than gnome these past few months. Digi kam is fine when uploading pictures, but I need a program that lets me upload my video's to. Digikam does not let me do that.

Debian is indeed bit difficult to start.
Well that's a big point, I recall I couldnt downloaded video eihther, but somehow I managed last year... how well wont recall.
I think we should consider this, this is an huge lack for our photo programs !
I wish I could help you... :(

Digital camera with video capabilities at the moment. My other camera broke, but my digi cam takes pretty good videos in the first place, and 3 minutes is all I need, so yeah.
