New Laptop: Would it run Ubuntu?

I'm looking at getting a new laptop for college and I'd like to be able to play some of my favorite games on it. So far, the best bang for my buck under 1k (I'm hoping this will last me all 4 years) was this asus laptop....with an ati video card

I'd like to dual boot xp and ubuntu, xp for games and ubuntu for everything else. Would ubuntu and this laptop play nice together?

It all looks okay, except I'd do some research on the ATI card and the newest drivers, don't know how good ATI's drivers are (no new ATI card to test them on).

I have the hd3650 graphics card in my pc (I know,it is not a laptop), but the hd3560 works fine with my widescreen monitor on ubuntu hardy.

Im running a 2002 ASUS Top-Of-The-Line motherboard and its still working fine for me. You should have no problems or just minor problems that can be fixed with simple tweeking.

(as in top of the line i ment when it was new it was top of the line.)

I just got the following laptop and it runs Hardy very well.

It is on sale now at CC for $600. A really great bargain. With a 250GB hdd you can dual boot for gaming and have plenty of disc space.

While not a graphics powerhouse it will play some older games.
