Hi All,
I had Civ4, Warlords and Beyond the Sword all working very happily in version 0.9.55 in Gutsy. I go and upgrade to Hardy - big mistake.
I have tried every version of Wine available from WineHQ, and either one of two things happen:
1 - I get to the menu screen and total lock up - have to hit the power button.
2 - I get to the menu screen and everything is fine until I try to either load a save game or start a new game. It gets all the way through loading and then just freezes on a black screen. The music is still going, but nothing happens. I have to Ctrl-Alt-Backspace out, log back in and kill the process (at which point the music stops).
It's very frustrating - I may have to go back to Cedega. I know everyone complains about Cedega, but at least it's relaible from build to build. It seems to be pot luck with Wine if games work from one release to the next. The other alternative is to downgrade back to Gutsy, as 0.9.55 is not available for Hardy.
Any help to avoid this would be gratefully appreciated!
Regards,
Igzilla :)
