Ubuntu 9.04 - Jazzy Jay: Your vote counts!

The more I've thought about my suggestion for 9.04's animal name, the more I think "Jazzy Jay" fits terrificly.

The Jay[bird] family is "several species of medium-sized, usually colorful and noisy, passerine birds..." - Wikipedia

Ubuntu is a medium sized distribution by default, not huge like Fedora or Ubuntu Ultimate, and not too small, like DSL or Puppy Linux.

Jazz is a form of music where all players participate and get their time in the spotlight, so to speak. Different instruments and sounds come together and work as one. The huge community and the software that participates in Ubuntu's development are similar in nature.

Also, it fits the recent habit of having a "-y" verb in our name. Edgy, Feisty, Gutsy, Hardy, Intrepid, Jazzy.

I think jazzy jackal is more like it. Jazzy like your definition, but Jackals are most known in Africa, where Ubuntu's philosophy was origionally based (and still is in some cultures there), and also can run at 10mph for extended periods of time.*
