He I'm looking for some decent DJ software for ubuntu. I am by no means an actual DJ but I think it would be interesting to try something out. I mainly just want to see if I can scribble songs so if the program has that function then that's pretty much what I'm looking for. Again, it certainly doesn't have to be extremely advanced.

Mixxx (http://mixxx.sourceforge.net) is amazingly good, and includes vinyl timecode support (like Final Scratch). It's in the repos.

Nope, sweep is an audio editor, not DJ software. See: http://www.metadecks.org/software/sweep/

Mixxx is good for mixing via your computer (I've yet to try their timecode support, though it sounds like you wouldn't be looking for this level of advancement just yet). XWAX is the other timecoded DJ app around, but it doesn't work without the timecode.

If when you say "scribble songs" you mean scratch them back and forth, then you should take a look at terminatorX: http://terminatorx.org/ and make sure to look at the "turntables" page for some cool ways of getting real turntable action with an old optical mouse.

If when you say "scribble songs" you don't mean scratching, then you'll need to explain a bit more.

(Vaguely OT) I think Mixxx uses XWAX libraries for timecode support anyway... It's something I have yet to play with, as DJ turntables are a) space-consuming and b) money-consuming... neither of which I can afford!
