View Full Version : [ubuntu] Running hot; surrendering to system graphics?

Hi, I hope this isn't too stupid of a question, but here goes:

In my efforts to run cooler on Ubuntu with my 24" intel iMac, would it make any difference to use only default Ubuntu themes for graphics?

Right now, I've got a Compiz Emerald theme going, a Gtk +2 theme and a OS icon theme running, and there might be even more than that going on - I just can't remember it all.

Also, if there's something I can do at the command line, that's a plus too. I'm not an expert there, but I'm not scared of it either.

Many Thanks for any suggestions,...Frank B.

PS Another way to ask this is in the inverse form: Does running more themes put pressure on one's graphics card and thereby stress out the cpu more?

Another way to ask this is in the inverse form: Does running more themes put pressure on one's graphics card and thereby stress out the cpu more?Using something like compiz will possibly run hotter since it uses the GPU more, but your theme choice probably won't make much difference at all. (really compiz probably won't either.)
