hello everyone.
I am new to ubuntu well new to any form of linux really. Moved to something new after vista issues.

Could anyone be kind enough to tell me on how to install f4l in ubuntu? Its not in the add/remove program list.

Thank you for your help

If memory serves... I installed it a little while ago so can't actually remember the details but I found the easiest way was to go to a page with flash on it. Click on the flash and then firefox should offer to get flash add-on for you!

I find that more and more with ubuntu if you want support for something click on it and it'll (ubuntu) will offer to get it for you. Which is cool (thought I'm sure it makes the purists grind their teeth ;) )!

F4L... I take it that you're composing, as opposed to simply viewing Flash. From what I remember, F4L has been discontinued because of legal issues. However, you can install Flash (for Windows) via Wine. I'm not sure though if Wine supports the latest Flash version; I'm using the old Flash 8 and it works fine.

If you're more into ActionScript and can work with text files, SWFTools might be good for you to try. I've tried it myself and it's rather fun to use. It's an SWF compiler and it's available from the repositories.

You might also want to take a look at FLEX.

yes it was for the F4L. I did not know it had been stopped, I only heard about it before.
Will install windows under VirtualBox then to run Adobe CS3.

Finding ubuntu great. Been running it for just over 2 weeks.

Read, digest, experiment, then do it again ...
