Hi, I read a post that said slow disk searching systems could be replaced.
How do i do this?
I'm running ubuntu 7.04 on a 700mhz PowerPC iBook G3.

What is your RAM?

the computer's ram is 367 MB, and the swap i set is 841 MB. Thanks.

Perhaps you are looking for an indexing-system like trackerd or maybe beagle?
With pre-hardy systems, you might obtain a nice little increase in hard drive performance with the noatime parameter in your /etc/fstab

Maybe turn off "Indexing" and "Watch Folders"
