Hi,
My dell inspiron 1525 has Sound blaster audigy installed in it. I've got a driver CD along with my system that installs its driver for windows. In windows the sound is really great. In ubuntu sound is working fine but is not as exuberant as in windows. I feel the driver is making the difference. So where do i get the Sound Blaster Audigy Driver for my Inpiron 1525.

The driver you get with Ubuntu or any other linux usually does the job fine. You'll not actually find a downloadable driver for linux in general when it comes to sound cards, but if you want to fiddle with settings, just open up the volume controls and fiddle with things like bass/treble, etc. And what exactly do you mean by exuberant when it comes to sound quality?

Exuberant i mean in windows the sound is crystal clear. In my laptop speakers i dont feel much difference but when connected to a 1500W external speaker the clarity difference is visible. Sound from linux is heard a little damped whereas same sound played through windows is clear without any damping. I presume that this is because of the Creative equalizer that came with the sound blaster driver. Alsa driver has features to just change the channels such as Master, PCM, Analog, LineIn and so on but doesnt have any equalizer that can control different bands of frequencies(I mean an equalizer which comes with VLC and all allows us to select between pre-tuned settings such as Rock,Pop,Classical,Flat etc and even allow our own custom settings).Such a kind of mater equalizer that can control any audio played through any player doesnt exist for Linux.
If you know any such equalizers plz tell me coz i'm in desperate need of it.

The sound on my Ubuntu dell mini 9 has no treble or bass control - only volume. The speaker in this unit probably can't be helped much, but I should be able to get some good sounds out of the headphones. I hope that I am able to find an equalizer for this little (but powerful?) unit.
