Hi all,
After I've installed Ubuntu 64bit I always get thrown to prompt and GDM fails.
doing startx manually gives me....
FAIL (EE) RADEON(0): Write-combining range (0xf0000000,0x1000000)
I get the same thing with vesa set as module name (in place of radeon).
The i386 ubuntu works flawlessly, but I want to test/play with the AMD 64 version.
Also 64-bit versions of suse & Fedora 3 work fine as well, but Ubuntu rocks :) just need the 64-bit one working ](*,)
Can anyone suggest anything??
Specs:
Fujitsu Amilo A1630 Notebook.
AMD64 3700+
Thanks........

Ok, update.....
I did a Hoary update (xorg etc) and all updated ok, startx now gives me video/gnome etc..
Just on boot now it always tries to start gdm/x twice??
And moans about not being able to copy Xauthory files when running any gksudo/root access programs...
I have removed /etc/rc2.d/S99gdm to stop gdm (in case this was being run twice) but that just dumps me to a console login...
Any ideas??
Thanks......

ubuntu is new, it takes time to develop that community that fedora/suse/mandrake all have.
I don't know the answer to your question, but did want to address that one issue.

Well said, a little patience would not go amiss.
Having tried out various Distros I am now a great fan of Ubuntu one of the key factors being the superb support provided through these pages and, not forgetting of course, Ubuntu just plain rocks
