[SOLVED] Problem with removing Gnash Shockwave plugin

I understand that GNU open source things are important and very useful. But, since this only supports flash 8 videos, it wont play sounds and youtube videos crap out. I cant seem to disable it even after installing the regular Adobe flash player and it seems that Gnash is taking priority.
I am not sure if I am posting in the right thread and I am a first time Ubuntu user.

go to synaptic, look for gnash and remove it.
